Why 500 Words A Day?
You can do more than you imagine, if you’d simply commit to less than you’re capable of.
Big change isn't about taking large leaps--it's about how consistently you can string small steps together. There's no magic here. The only magic is consistency. Setting reasonable goals, below your threshold is the quickest way to build sustainable habits. 500 words was something I could do every single day. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
After I sat down and did the math, I realized that over a year, that's 182,500 words (or the equivalent of about 3.5 books). See what I mean? You don't need big leaps to cover major ground. Just a bit of daily discipline of writing aimed at improving.
And after a random Thread online where I shared what I planned to do and invited people to join, you decided to come. So, I asked for help, and created a space for us to do this thing together. Now here we are. Together.
The Results You'll Get
We're going to find that out together.
I don't want to overpromise anything. This is an experiment. A community we're building together. A path we're charting. It reminds me of the old story about the people who were brought in to lay the sidewalks at a University. They took one look at the perfectly manicured grass and told the people who hired them they'd be back in a year.
Why?
They wanted to give the students time to create natural grooves in the grass. After a year, these sidewalk layers would see where the students actually walked, and they wouldn't have to guess where to place the sidewalks. They'd know because they students already created the outline.
I want us to create that outline together.
This introductory page will change as the year goes on and it becomes more and more clear what this group will be. For now, you're signing up because of what you imagine it could be. I just want you to imagine out loud.
